Nobody is as passionate about gin as the Spanish. The Spanish Gin Collection highlights some of the amazing Spanish gins revolutionising the G&T.
The variety and innovation in Spanish gins was a direct inspiration behind starting Gin Festival. We wanted to showcase how amazing gin could be and these 5 gins represent a great example of that. The 5 gins included are:
Gin Sea - 70cl 40% ABV Manuel Barrientos, a Spanish sommelier, launched Gin Sea back in 2012, wanting to produce a gin that truly represented Spain and we're confident he's achieved it! Five times distilled, Gin Sea has gentle, sweet citrus and earthy juniper on the nose, as well as a hint of lavender and a little spice. The juniper is mellowed on the palate and the sweetness more pronounced with candied ginger and chamomile making a rather pleasant appearance. Gin sea has a rather herbal, aromatic finish with noticeable thyme-flavour that balances this gin beautifully.
Sikkim Privee - 70cl 40% ABV Prepared with a base of red tea made in the Tibetan region of Sikkim, a part of India famed for some the best teas in the world. Sikkim Privee London Dry Gin has a gentle combination of juniper, red tea and flower essences with coriander, a touch of herbs and a soft, velvety red tea flavour.
Gin Mare - 70cl 42.7% ABV A superstar of the craft gin movement, Gin Mare is hugely popular around the world and it isn't hard to see why. Gin Mare is a thoroughly Spanish gin, bursting with the wonderful taste of the Mediterranean; rosemary, olives, thyme and basil. This is a very aromatic gin with an abundance of juniper and fresh coriander, bitter with herbal notes. All of these deeply Spanish flavours are hugely evocative of a specific place and sipping a Gin Mare and tonic is enough to transport you to the shores of the Mediterranean at sunset.
Mahon Gin Xoriguer - 70cl 38% ABV With its distinctive bottle design, and a recipe that's been largely unchanged for nearly 200 years, Mahon Gin Xoriguer is a classic that still stands out from the crowd. Mahon Gin Xoriguer is one of only a very small number of gins with a protected geographical indication, meaning that it can only be made in Menorca. Xoriguer is dominated by fruit flavours such as grapes and orange with an abundance of juniper. Chamomile, lemon zest and almond play subtle roles while black pepper is a more prominent spicy addition.
K - 25 - 70cl 45% ABV Distilled 14 times, K-25 is a crisp, clear gin that's fantastically citrusy with bitter and sweet orange, lemon, mandarin and coriander. This is skilfully combined with a light floral note and a deliciously complex, spiced note. The distinctive blue colour comes from some of the secret botanicals used in its creation. Made by Manuel Acha Distillery, the oldest company in the Basque Country, as well as one of the oldest family businesses in Europe with a huge history and tradition in the production of high-quality liquor.
