Portobello Road has a pleasantly floral nose with lavender, parma violent and a very subtle hint of citrus.
Ged Feltham, owner of Leelex Group (a range of bars in Leeds and London) creator of Portobello Road No. 171 London Dry Gin, never intended to create one of the most fashionable gins of contemporary Britain; but when he opened a new bar in London and decided to use a pot still behind the bar, a legend was born.
Traditional juniper and citrus flavours followed by dry spice and a long peppery bite from the nutmeg. A little sweeter than the average London Dry but still with a good level of junipery dryness on the finish.
A great London Dry gin from a new distiller (check out the Ginstitute if you can) with a woody spiced botanical mix - apparently something to do with the nutmeg.
It's well complemented by a very good tonic, served as recommended with a twist of pink grapefruit - and made extra special with a sprig of rosemary. A real treat!
