Pickering’s are based in Edinburgh, where they aim to make fantastically good gin. This is strongly aromatic in the mouth, lots of pine and citrus.
Taking a neutral wheat spirit, Pickering’s use their good, old still, Gert, and a family recipe for gin that was hidden for 66 years.
There are hints of liquorice and cinnamon, slightly nutty notes and a sweet lavender-like softness. Refreshingly crisp and dry with a long spicy residual flavour. This is a particularly traditional, soft gin.
My husband and I stayed at a hotel in Edinburgh in November which had a specialist gin made only for their bar, One Square Gin. We absolutely loved it and had never tasted gin like it so we bought a bottle from the bar to take home. When we researched a bit at home in Newcastle we found you can only buy it by going into the hotel and buying it from the bar but also found out that it was Pickerings who made it for them. So...I bought this bottle online for my husband for Christmas in the hope that it would be similar to the One Square Gin and it really didn't disappoint! It's our absolute favourite and we love the citrus flavour. We enjoy it with Fevertree tonic, a sprig of thyme and a shaving of grapefruit peel. I would definitely recommend it and will definitely be buying it again soon! xx
This gin is one of my favourites. It goes perfectly with pink grapefruit and it's very very easy to drink.
