Explore the magical Scots Isles through Orkney Mikkelmas Gin. Taste local heather and rose hip alongside classic botanicals for a warming, spicy gin.
What started out as a hobby, making hand-crafted gin as a Christmas present for family and friends, is now a family-run business. The inspiration is the rugged coast and wind-swept hills of Orkney, so local botanicals form the base of both their small batch seasonal gins. Orkney use the bathtub-style method to distill their gin, blending a variety of botanicals with seven times-distilled spirit. This is the Orcadian autumn gin capturing the spirit of The Mikkel Feast, or the Feast of St Michael. This was traditionally celebrated by Orcadians from the 29th of September to the 12th of October. The celebration marked the end of the harvest and the end of an Orkney summer. The tradition still exists today with each island hosting its own Harvest Home, a traditional meal and dance that lasts long into the night. Botanicals used include cinnamon and local rose hip, for a spicy gin that blends beautifully with lighter, floral flavours.
Celebrate the autumnal spirit with this silky smooth gin. Mulled spices and cinnamon leap out before developing into the burst of zest provided by the Seville orange peel, spicy juniper and floral notes from the Orcadian rose hip and heather berries. A gorgeous autumn and winter warmer which works equally well in a G&T, mixed with ginger ale to bring out the spice, or in a hot toddy.
