An adult throwback to childhood sweets, Nelson’s Gin: Rhubarb and Custard is sweeter and naughtier than their original but still definitively gin.
Nelson's Gin was created at Nelson's Gin distillery and Gin School, by Neil Harrison, an experienced chef who sought to capture the most elusive quality of a good meal, ambience, in a bottle. The gin takes its name from two great inspirational figures for Neil, the British naval hero and his own father, Nelson James Harrison. Nelson's is made with the distinctive botanicals of kaffir lime leaves, lemongrass, vanilla and cinnamon.
The rhubarb and custard flavour comes from natural rhubarb essence and Madagascan vanilla, both of which are infused into the gin. Whilst it is noticeably sweeter on the palate than the original Nelson's Gin this is still a London Dry Gin, not a liqueur, so it isn't cloying or syrupy. In fact Nelson's has a remarkable clean, smooth taste which lets each botanical sing individually on the tastebuds.
