Inspired by the Black Forest and India and with a whopping 47 botanicals, Monkey 47 Gin is brimming with flavour!
Having rediscovered the eccentric Wing Commander Montgomery Collins’ recipe for gin, some enterprising fellows at The Black Forest Distillery decided to give it a go and see what came of it. Luckily for them (and us), Monty’s recipe was spectacular and so in 2008 the gin went into production. Named for the Commander’s pet monkey, the number of botanicals used and it’s ABV%, Monkey 47 was born.
A complex and flavoursome gin that, despite its vast plethora of botanicals, isn’t fussy; Monkey 47 is clean, dry and citrusy. A well-bodied gin with strong herbal and juniper notes, backed up by vivid lime.
Monkey 47 was another delight we were introduced to on our Gin tasting experience. We found out that the 47 is indeed how many botanicals there are in this gin. I couldn't decipher which stood out to me most though, which was a little disappointing as I like to be able to identify a flavour, or at least a note of one. it is still a mighty fine gin!
I was bought this gin as a gift as the purchaser had heard good things about it. I have bought it ever since. By far the nicest gin I've tasted to date. Beautiful bottle. Exquisite taste. Highly recommended
A superb dry gin paired with fever tree tonic. Really unique in flavour but such a refreshing drink.
