Made with Mediterranean botanicals including rosemary, thyme, basil and Arbequina olives, Gin Mare is a smooth and exotic gin with a savoury twist.
It combines fruit and herbs in a distinctive concoction that’s gradually increasing in popularity as it makes its way around the world.
The gin is distilled in the small Spanish town of Vilanova, well known for its fishing industry. Coming from a place built on the fruit of the sea is the reason its distillers decided to name it after the water itself.
Gin Mare begins life in a former monk’s retreat, a chapel that now houses a whole new kind of spirit. The family responsible for this standout gin are the Ribots, who have a long history of producing wines, being in business since 1835.
The Ribot family only began distilling gin in the 1940s, when they formed Gin MG, which has since gone on to take the world by storm.
With one successful gin under their belts, and now firmly established in the industry, the brothers Mark and Manuel (grandsons of the original founders) decided to get a little creative with their second.
Gin Mare is a true taste of the Mediterranean, combining tastes of the land around the Costa Dorada region, using the warm Spanish climate, and taking inspiration from the surrounding ocean.
On top of the savoury botanicals, the brothers added sweet Seville oranges, bitter Valencia oranges, and tangy Lleida lemons, all macerated for many months before being added to the gin.
