The fantastic Elephant Gin herd is inspired by Africa and the lovely people at Elephant don’t just use botanicals from Africa in their recipe, they support African elephant charities too.
Since they sold their very first bottle, Elephant has been giving 15% of all proceeds from Elephant Gin and Elephant Sloe Gin to 2 African elephant foundations that support the preservation of wildlife in Africa.
The first is Big Life Foundation’s Ranger Club, working in Tanzania and Kenya. They employ hundreds of Maasai rangers who defend 2 million acres of wilderness, undertaking crucial anti-poaching operations to keep the wildlife in the Amboseli-Tsavo-Kilimanjaro ecosystem of East Africa protected.
The second is Space For Elephants Foundation in South Africa. Fencing in natural habitats split family herds and meant elephants and other wildlife have been prevented from migrating along centuries old paths, leading to food shortages. The aim is to re-establish lost space, allowing elephants and other wildlife to maintain their natural movement and behavioural patterns.
To achieve this, they do a lot to help the poor communities who live adjacent to these areas. Ravaged by unemployment and lack of opportunity, poachers take advantage and buy cooperation and information from these neighborhoods. Space for Elephants create employment opportunities and raise awareness of the surrounding wildlife through community projects and education.
Not only are Elephant driven by passion for these causes, doing wonders for African wildlife, they have created 2 gins that dance on your taste buds too!
This fantastic small-batch gin is handmade in Germany, using traditional juniper and rare African botanicals you won't find in most gins such as; Baobab fruit, African Wormwood, Lion’s Tail and Devil’s Claw!
Spicy flavours hit you at first, encompassing floral and fruity notes before the juniper takes over with a long, dry and delicately warm finish. A complex and smooth gin.
Elephant Sloe Gin
This is a tasty addition to the Elephant Gin family. Fresh and sweet with a burst of sloe berries plus a hint of nuts and spice on the palate, followed by blackberry and, of course, sloe berries on the finish. This is a perfect drink to warm you up on a chilly evening.
Be a hero and save elephants while drinking gin!
Fruity gins are full of flavour and sweeter than the classic London Dry, which makes them perfect for beg-gin-ners, or any gin lover!
