Made using a brand new, top-secret distilling method, Zymugorium’s Manchester Gin is a smooth and floral gin inspired by the city of its birth.
Based in Manchester and founded by the dazzlingly innovative Aaron Darke, Zymurgorium takes its name from a portmanteau of zymurgy (the art of distilling or brewing) and emporium. Aaron distills, brews and creates a fabulous range of meads, liqueurs and cordials and he’s not prepared to stop there!
Aaron’s background in Zoology makes him passionate about sustainable and ecologically friendly business. A large quantity of his ingredients are locally grown and picked, from sweet violets to hand-foraged rosehips and laneside elderflower. Aaron ensures all the farming he does is free from any negative, long-term impacts to the plants or the area.
Zymugorium products reflect the variety and diversity of the natural and (culinary) world but Manchester Gin, takes this theme further, drawing on the city’s heritage in addition to its dietary delights. The bee is a very common symbol of Manchester, found all over the city, as well as on its coat of arms. Its usage as a symbol of Manchester dates back to the Industrial Revolution, when Manchester became a hive of activity and much of the city’s wealth was created. Inspired by its home city's history, Zymurgorium’s new Manchester Gin is based on a vodka distilled from honey.
Manchester Gin is delightfully complex, the gin moves away from the honeyed flavours and towards something warm and spicy with herbal top notes. We like to think that the variety of flavours also represents Manchester’s rich cultural fabric!
Rather excitingly, Manchester Gin has been distilled using a brand new method and still! This is one of Aaron’s many pet projects and is currently too secret to reveal here!
