One of the biggest, brightest and boldest stars in the spirits world, Sipsmith, has just announced a new brand partnership with Beam Suntory.
Beam Suntory, the international drinks company, is responsible for a wide range of spirits, liqueurs and cordials; their portfolio currently includes a number of distinguished brands including: Jim Beam, Laphroaig, Bowmore, Ardmore, Courvoisier, Gilbey’s and Larios.
The Sipsmiths are often heralded as the instigators of the UK’s craft gin renaissance. It’s thanks to them and their perseverance with HMRC to be allowed to make gin in small quantities that we have this abundance of distillers and an incredible range of gins to try and fall in love with. Fifteen years ago, we wouldn’t be having conversations about your favourite seaside inspired gin or the best gin for a Negroni versus the best for a Martini.
This is all down to the Sipsmiths.
Sipsmith’s fine spirits will remain as they are (though many, many more can be expected from them). Beam Suntory won’t be taking over production, moving the distillery or altering the recipes but they will allow for Sipsmith products to be sold worldwide.
This has the potential to be a very positive new partnership, and it shows what craft spirits can become.
